So beautiful! My Dad and I are close even though we are separated by distance as I moved away after college. . He is a baseball fanatic that has 3 daughters. I love to go to games with him but can’t say we bond over baseball. We have gotten into texting back and forth during college football games. This year I got him excited about women’s college basketball! It was so much fun to talk about the games and text during them . I feel he just loves being able to talk to me about sports which makes my heart happy!

Such a great excerpt and a wonderful essay, too.

I bought this book for my husband, and he recently finished it. He enjoyed it a lot.

Oh my goodness . . . you have such a beautiful way with words! I was right there with you--through the hurt, the tears and even the 'fulfillment' at the end of this essay. Now I'm wondering how my heart can feel heavy and yet hopeful at the same time. Thanks for sharing these experiences with your dad. He'd be so proud!

I loved this memoir and it was the first book of yours I've read. The baseball drew me in and your writing has kept me intrigued and reading many of your books.

Oh Wade, what a beautiful story. I'm crying as I write this. I had a pretty good relationship with my dad, although after my.mom passed away and he remarried it was a little strained. He was blind his whole life but loved baseball and listened to the Phillies games most nights. He was in the hospital for a couple weeks before he died so I would read the Phillies highlights from the newspaper every day. Also my husband and his dad hadn't spoken for not quite two years but just recently started speaking again. His dad is not well so I'm glad they are talking and spending time together. Parent relationships can be hard at times so it's great when we can work things out. Thank you for sharing ❤️

My husband and I got to meet you and Gary last year in Rehoboth Beach Delaware and really enjoyed your talk. I love your books and look forward to new ones.

Baseball was supposed to start today for us, we are close to Philly and Baltimore so there is always a game to watch. Tomorrow we'll watch the Phillies and The Braves start the season..

Tell Gary hello and have a great summer and baseball season.
